The much talked about Shisha

Shisha..something my jb group has been talking about very often these days. Is it legal? Is it appropriate? Can it be consumed by Christians?

Shisha history is rich and very controversial. It is said that the water pipe originated in India where it was made from coconut shells and then spread to Iran and into different parts of the Arab world before moving onto Turkey. One of the oldest and deep rooted traditions in Turkey is smoking the Shisha, with both men and women finding great pleasure in smoking the waterpipe.

In a shisha, tobacco (as pictured above) is heated by a charcoal. The tobacco smoke passes through a water-filled chamber, which cools the smoke before it's inhaled by the smoker. The tobacco is available in many exotic flavours. It offers a smoother, more flavorful and cooler taste of smoke over that of cigarettes and cigars.Tobacco is one of the main ingredients in it. Well, we all know that we can get hooked to it. Most shisha smokers claim to have gotten hooked to it, more than getting hooked on to sex! So i guess the answer is clear, that it ain't good for you, my friends!
I think many of you must have heard much about what i have to say below. Nevertheless i will stil say it, for the sake of those who have never heard it before. :)

Well friends, everything is neutral by nature. With proper usage it is acceptable. But once there is an abuse, it is wrong. abuse literally means 'abnormal usage' of something. Money is neutral, drugs are neutral. It really depends on the user. Money in the hands of an evil person becomes evil. Money in the hands of a good person, is put to good use. Drugs in actual fact is used by doctors to heal patients. But, put in the wrong hands, there is drug abuse. The same goes to clubbing and pubbing. There is nothing wrong with dancing and having clean fun with a bunch of friends. But if everyone starts getting drunk and wasted, then it's already abuse! Sex is God's gift to mankind. But many abuse it and exploit it for their own pleasure. The same goes to smoking as well.
In conclusion, whatever which gets you hooked on to it, gets you addicted to it, it isn't good for you.
So, don't try it! You don't have to try a ciggy to know that it ain't good for your health! In Denmark, Shisha sellers have to put a notice 'smoking may kill' to remind these smokers of its danger, no matter how mild it may seem to be. Be wise my friends...

IGNO the miniature dinasour

Now that you've met my happy slimy friends in the pond, i want you to meet one of my closest and longest lasting pet around (been sticking with me since form 4 man!! it rockss!!). Meet..
IGNO the iguana!!!

Yes my dears..i have an iguana! It has been around since I was 16…8 years already! Could live as long as a dog! Well, I loved it dearly. You must be wondering, why an iguana (??). well, when I was 11-16, I was madly in love with Mark Owen (yes, that’s right gals…Take That poster boy, Mark owen!). And in one of the videos about their lives, Mark showed the world his pet..an iguana. And I thought..’Awww…..how cute!!!’. So when iguanas were being sold in Malaysia, my family was one of the earliest to buy it! Few people have met it even. Dev fed it some fruits before, and so did Shawn, while Mei Ching stood around staring at the little monster, afraid..very afraid!! So Igno is really the center of attraction actually. From the day we bought it, uncles and aunties have always wanted to kill it and make iguana soup for Chinese New Year. How could they?! Ever! Even the thought of it! *tsk tsk*
Oh well, Igno is still very much well and alive! Favourite food..durians (yes, believe it or not!), bananas amd hibiscus flowers. That’s like ice-cream and dessert for it. It’s staple food- kangkung all the way man..bland and boring!

Well, Igno and me came a looooong way man. It spent time accompanying me while i studied for my SPM..ahhaha..really. I hung a really long piece of cloth across my room window and door, and it was crawling up and down the cloth, having fun. haha! I bathed it a few times even, in my parent's bath tub! ehehhe.. Igno even went for walks and crawled all over me when it was still young and cute. Oh well, now it's a little too old! and huge! and i'm a little afraid of it! It's like a BIG miniature dinasour! BUT...I still love it! Do visit him if u want to!

It's 2.21am in the morning of September the 16th and i am still wide awake, with the intention of waking up to something new. Well not yet..can't wait for the news to break though! I have a feeling it's not gonna happen within the next 24 hours. Weeks, it seems, it'll take. Well, half of you may not know what precisely am i writing about! That's the fun part..you keep guessing, while i keep writing about the anticipation...the hopes..the dreams of waking up to a better tomorrow.

Anyways...

I've been having a blast of a time doing much about nothing back in peejay! I just came to a self realization that i will NEVER be able to bum around and be a couch potato ever again when i start working! OMIGOSH!

Unless of course, i got fired! So i've decided, instead of telling my parents, "i'm so bored at home! I wanna go back to JB! SOT was so fast paced..i need that!", I have decided to make full use of my time to live on my parent's account(!!!), to eat all that i can, watch all the movies that i can, and don't feel a single tinge of guilt about it! Lol! Well, the truth is, I have not been the prodigal daughter. *Grin* I have been good- staying home, helping out, cleaning the fish pond, and doing what a good daughter should be doing (lots of thumbs up for that perhaps?!)

The fish pond was the worst ever! Everybody in the house literaly left the pond to rot + breed mosquitoes. It reminded me of DARK WATER- seriously. It is a habitat to an alligator turtle which is 10 inches long,..

a big ugly 15 inch long fish ( I can't remember its name. All i know is that Indians love it 'cos it brings them luck) which swims tilted 20 degrees cos the pond water is too shallow for it to swim straight (!),
a freshwater turtle and a million 'longkang' fishes. The 'longkang' fishes were supposed to be food for the alligator turtle. But i guess it outbred the amount of fishes that the turtle could take in.

Along with the muddy water,
if i were to put a finger in, it may really be gone by the next minute.

I thought to myself..What's the point of having fishes while not being able to appreciate them?!

Out of that frustration, (and also the fact that i could score some points with my parents) I decided to clean it and even managed to manipulate my brother into it as well *double grins*. It took us 5 hours, and by the third i was having a headache due to chemical reaction from the smell and etc. *eeks!*. It was worth it though..
look at how clean it is now! yay!

The following day, i had a great seafood dinner cooked by my dad. He bought some really rare fish from Sabah, which i forgot the name. Will post it up tmr.. :) So friends, if you ever need some advice on how to score points with your parents, call me, the princess of manipulation. :)

160808

16th of September, a day which commemorate events and memories unknown to many. I for one wondered what happened on this day from various years. In.. 1795 - United Kingdom conquers Cape Town, South Africa. 1812 - Russians set fire to Moscow shortly after midnight - the city is burned completely down days later. 1970 - King Hussein of Jordan declares military rule due to the hijacking of four civilian airliners by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). This results in the formation of the Black September Palestinian paramilitary unit.

1975 - Papua New Guinea gains its independence from Australia. 1920- The Mayflower Sail sets off from Plymouth in England with 102 passengers on board. They were heading for Virginia in the New World and had authorization from the British crown to set up a colony there. On board the ship the settlers agreed to a body politic which established constitutional law and democratic rule of the majority. 1952- BB King, the king of blues was born. 1949- Road Runner debuts in the short Warner Brothers cartoon "Fast and Furry-ous"!! 1956- David Copperfield was born. 1963- Malaysia is formed from Malaya, Singapore, British North Borneo (Sabah) and Sarawak.- Hari Malaysia! And on September 16, 2008, what becomes of this fateful day is still uncertain.. Speculations are plenty, comments, too many. The rakyat hopes for the unspeakable to take place.

But how many are willing to pay the price of freedom?
In this post modernistic world, everybody wants peace, prosperity and a good life. Even bringing up the topic of a possible turmoil stirs up controversy and disagreements all over the room. Someone once said..

“All who affirm the use of violence admit it is only a means to achieve justice and peace. But peace and justice are nonviolence...the final end of history. Those who abandon nonviolence have no sense of history. Rather they are bypassing history, freezing history, betraying history. -Andre Trocme”

I think it was well said, and nicely said. So the question is Will we truly be free at last? or..

Will history repeat itself? First as tragedy, second as farce?

When I was 10 yrs old, my father introduced me to a book. I became so glued to it and I loved it so much ‘cos I was one of the fastest people to see beyond the pictures into a new dimension! And my sister was the last! (ahah..that’s what you get from a doctor!) Well, things which I excel in, I enjoy! *grin* I guess it’s the same for everybody else! Thus, today, I’m going to introduce to you something called the MAGIC EYE!!!

Well..it is simply looking at stereograms. A simple explanation of the magic eye phenomena is the following. If a human brain with two eyes is looking at a 3D object, each point of the object emits (via reflection) a ray of light to each eye. (So we have two rays for each point.) Let us place a class screen between the object and the eyes, and let us color equally the intersection points of each pair of rays with the glass screen. Now let us remove the object. If the eyes haven't changed their focus they will be cheated by the colored screen, and still will 'see' the object. (So to see a hidden stereogram the eyes should be focused beyond the stereogram surface.)

Well, to learn how to see the ‘real’ 3d picture beneath the 2d picture that you’re seeing, you would need to cross your eyes, as though you are drunk (!) and bring your nose close to the computer screen.

Since you can not pick up the computer monitor and move it away from your face, try moving your body away from the computer screen. Get up out of the chair and onto your feet. Prepare to assume a slightly contorted position. Put your nose right up against the computer screen. The image will become very blurry. The point is you have just easily defeated your tendency to focus right at the surface of the computer screen. In order to see the 3D image you must look through the computer screen, not at the computer screen. You need to maintain the same feeling and the same posture of your eyes as you move away from the image. You are staring through the monitor, off into space. Now slowly take a step back from the computer screen while maintaining the same position of your eyes. Allow the image to remain blurry. *Relax, breathe, blink.*

Continue aiming your eyes beyond the computer screen. Do not look directly at the image or the computer. If you suddenly shift your focus and look right at the screen, you will lose the 3D effect. Once you recognize the 3D shape, if you continue to look into the background rather than directly at the shape, the 3D effect will increase. Stereoscopic perception seems to have a saturation effect in the brain, so if you keep looking at the image for a while you will notice that your perception of the depth increases.

Now, you try it! Some never managed to see it despite all the motivation and support from me. Oh well..now you can differentiate the artistic from the non-artistic ones! lol...

do you see a heart? my love extended to all of you *giggles*

do you see the 3d balls floating in space?! pretty cool huh!

what do you see? do tell me!

and what is this now?! try it! you'll love it!

Have fun seeing 'through' these images! And do tell me what do you see!

abracadabra

hello guys!! that's right..abracadabra...n now it's here right before your very eyes....MY NEW POST! *clap clap cheers*..Thank you for being a faithful visitor of my blog. and each time you visit for the past 6 months, it's the same pictures with the same grinning faces staring at you..n each time you question whether your computer is loading the pages a little slower, or whether there's a missing link..let me put it plainly to you..i was very tied up with my thesis work..thus not enabling me to update my blog..which then led on to my enrollment into the School of Theology, which caused my schedule to be packed all the way from 5am till like 2am?! everyday?! (hmmmm...) , which then led on to the cutting off of my streamyx line, due to reasons such as 'my housemates did not pay the bills (!!)' or more like 'i did not pay it either!!'. So yeah, here i am, back at my home sweet home in kl updating my blog, for the first time in 3 months, chomping down an apple with my leftie and typing with my better hand!! Bet you guys can't multitask like most girls! hah!

I would like to extend my thanks to my cg members like Rare Leo (told you i would mention your name!*), Joshua Ang (you bugged me countless times, i had to let your name out! :P) and the rest of you who are currently logged on to mua blog! thank you for your unending patience and thank you for never giving up on me :) i owe it to you guys! You know, one of the reasons why i didn't update my blog was also because i have nothing much to say about everything! Everyday things which happens to me, i think, is not that significant. But the fact that you are here reading my blog about nothing much proves the fact that the y-generation loves to read (???) about everything or nothing at all! it is like forcing a painting out of me (Huey..u know me.i can't paint for nuts! the last painting was also the first they forced out of me in 1st yr..the fish skin house along Danga bay!! HORROR!)..i would draw a dot..and say that it means universality. it can be anything that you want it to be! okay..im' getting carried away..i think i need to learn how to place some pictures in my blog..otherwise you guys would get bored of me writing unendlessly about nothing much!

Anyway, just to update you, many things have happened in my life for the past 5-6 months. i've graduated from UTM..and SOT..and i'm done looking for a job! yay! My life is pretty much in order.. :) I even managed to getaway for Anand and Atchra's wedding in kampar (man..i still haven't managed to try the python soup!), go Kota Kinabalu for a mission trip (KK was lovely..), and lots of in betweens. If i were to mention it all, this post will take 5 months to finish reading!! And now to complete my first posting in a while..i need to place some pictureS! haha..it's like the blog protocal, i think...

UTM graduation..thinking of what to do next....

SOT graduation pic with my hsemates...not for long..sob*

'z lovely ladies at Anand's wedding..ahem ahem!

that's me!! leading the crowd of 500-1000 (i forgot the figure!)

Life has been good..especially when i'm back..eating all the unagis, raw salmons, baby octopuses, dim sums, ampang yong tau foos, scones, pucinni pizzas, tiramisus..ahhh man... the list goes on and on and on! that's how deprived i am when i'm in jb! ahhaha..and i just watched Wall-E, like yesterday. it was a pretty cute show! i loved it actually..albeit there were negative remarks from Jon, Alvin and Pink. i think ppl who love to THINK and visualise the future, likes the show! lol...anyway.. my favourite was when they mentioned how they could grow pizza trees! lol..i thought that was funny! and oh, how convenient it was!

So, lastly, before signing out..thanks for visiting once again! i shall make this a pleasant visit every other day, or week, or maybe month! ;) ciao!

signing out...@!mei
